As the year draws to a close and we look forward to good things in 2022, I want all my friends to pause for a few moments, and join me in the tranquil environment of the Caledonian pine forest of Glen Tanar.
As you contemplate the scene below (clicking on the picture to enlarge it would be a good idea), imagine your feet crunching on the ice-crisp undergrowth, the faint rays of the winter sun kissing your cheeks, and the fresh, clean aroma of the Scots pines wafting into your nostrils as you listen to the burbling of the whisky-coloured river rushing down the glen.
Happy Nature Friday!

DeleteThank you, Bertie. That was a wonderful moment.
ReplyDeleteBertie, that's a lovely way to finish off the old year. Such a beautiful wintery scene and you look so dashing in your bright red sweater. We enlarged the photo and can imagine it just as you described it.
ReplyDeleteA very Happy New Year to you and Gail, and we wish you, especially, good health for many more years to come.
Love,
Inca xx
Bertie darlin' this is the true meaning of "frosty paws" I think I'll put on another pair of socks. That pop of red...thrills me all over. Happy Healthy New Year to you and Gail

Imagine! My feet did that cold but then they were already cold to start with. And I think I can smell pantries and the tree that is right at the top of your tail on the right is absolutely gorgeous as in way in and look at it beautiful branches and that's when I could smell it. Enjoy the rest of the new year and see you next year
ReplyDeleteI must stop talking my answers or take the time to proof read. should say I did imagine that my feet were cold. and it was pine trees I smelled not pantries although I need something from a pantry now. ha ha
DeleteGsil says: I did wonder about 'pantries'!!
DeleteYour words paint such a beautiful picture but seeing you enjoy such a peaceful place brings us joy, too! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to end the year.
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best for 2022!

So pretty and chilly! We wish we were there! (It is 60 degrees here, no winter to be had...) We hope you have a lovely new year celebration and thank you for sharing your adventures with us!

Lovely to "join" you on your walk! In 2013, I tagged along with my sister, whose work paid for a week-long conference in at the University in Swansea (free lodging and food for me, although the air ticket was quite pricey). I fantasized that I would ask you and Bertie if I could join you for a hike, and take the train up from London. That was, until I realized how far Aberdeen was from London! But I have had many opportunities to "accompany" you on your walks, and, for this, I remain grateful. I wish you and Bertie good days, as we enter 2022!
ReplyDeleteThank you, and best wishes for the New Year. We would love to have your company on one of our walks!
DeleteI so enjoy walking with you Bertie, and today -which is very hot over here - I'm particularly grateful for a cooling walk. Happy New Year to you and Gail, wishing many more walks with you in 2022.
ReplyDeleteThat could be my happy place
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bertie - and Gail - for a lovely finish to the year. Despite some real challenges, what a grand year you had, dear fellow! May the new year be just as bright.
ReplyDeleteAh, Bertie and Gail - a happy new year to you both (with wags from Oscar too ).
ReplyDeleteTonight, after an unexpectedly difficultly December - as much logistical as anything - I'm finally catching up on some of my favourite blogs to send good wishes and say thanks for reading and commenting on mine. Yours has been one of my absolute favourites - making me laugh and smile - and yet also connecting in unexpected ways:cycling, love of the hills; thoughtful responses...
I hope next year brings us better times and plenty of words (and pictures) to inspire and entertain.
Very best woofs - and wishes
Mark
