Welcome to my world!

I bet I'm not the only pup whose human seems lately to have been washing their hands more often and more thoroughly than usual. I've even heard Gail, as per the instructions from the government's chief medical officer, humming the 'Happy Birthday' song twice as she does so, and I only hope she doesn't do this when out and about in public, given her woeful inability to carry a tune.

Well folks, all I can say is: "Welcome to my world".

Ever since the day in May 2017, when the dermatology specialist suggested that the root cause of my interdigital cyst problems was my unusually compact (I prefer to say "dainty") feet, and prescribed frequent paw washing, with particular attention to be paid to the clefts between the pads, I have been subject to a stringent paw hygiene regime.

So at least every two days, and every day if I've been out in the mud, I am lifted up into the sink, and I am now accepting of, or at least resigned to, much fussing over my foot-focussed ablutions.

The good news is that all this paw palaver has rid me of those horrid, nasty and painful interdigital cysts, and for this I am truly grateful.

I do hope that the current hand washing fervour will keep all my lovely human friends safe and well too.

PS I'm pleased to report I haven't been standing in the kitchen sink all week. Yesterday I went out to lunch with my lady friend Rosie the Westie, after we'd enjoyed a not too muddy walk in Hazlehead Park with our humans.

Isn't Rosie pretty? I must say I'm rather enjoying Gail's retirement so far!

  2. Rosie looks very sweet.

SHE's been doing more handwashing here, too. Glad your feet are under control. Dui is having bi-carb rinse-offs after being at the river. There seems to be something that makes his belly itchy.

Well, Bertie lad, you know that I approve of the hygiene advice - given that really speaking, everyone ought to be doing this anyway, and not just cuz there's some wild bug out and about. Sigh... So glad your pawsies are that much better for having maintained the discipline. A lesson indeed - and Rosie most definitely has eye-appeal! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  4. Bertie...oh yes indeed we are festively washing our hands while humming here too.
Bertie today is proof today that you dear friend look most handsome no matter where you are standing. Paw washing is okey dokey as long as you don't see nail polish by the sink.

Jumpin' Catfish Rosie is quite beautiful while at the same time looking quite capable of joining you on a brisk trek up a mountain too.
She looks a lot like Hamish...

  9. Rosie is a very pretty girl and we're happy that you got to hang out with her, Bertie, and you're lucky that you can be lifted into the sink and we're happy that your cysts are a thing of the past.

  10. All that hand washing is happening here, and with a muddy yard right now, we suspect there could be some paw dunking happening around here too.

Glad you had fun with Rosie. And we are very happy to hear that your paw washing regimen has helped with those cysts.

  12. I am so glad that the paw cleaning has helped you so much, Bertie! You are a good fella' for accommodating it. I do hope that all of the hand washing that us humans are doing helps stop the virus.

  13. Bertie, it seems that Gail and my human are about as musical as one another!
What a sweet girl Rosie is, and I'm sure you are the perfect gentleman.
My human is always washing her hands, she says it's something to do with having had three dogs at one time, so it's nothing new here.

  14. Lady says she was shocked by how many people didn't know to wash your hands for 20 seconds. Given that she works with kids, her hands are raw and sore as while always a good hand washer she is washing far for frequently. Rosy is very cute. We are glad retirement is suiting you.n

  15. Our mom is washing so much more too, but she only washes our paws when we are super-dirty, and we hate it! Please don't give her any ideas! We are glad that your paws feel better though!
