Something fishy about Scotland's future?

Can one trust the statements of a party led by two piscine politicians?

Alex SALMONd (leader of the Scottish Nationalist Party)

Nicola STURGEON (deputy leader of the SNP)

Whereas you have to love a campaign called Better Together and led by a man with the name Alistair DARLING. After all, there's nothing wrong with having some white furs and some black ones.

I, Bertie, am coming to the conclusion that Scotland is BETTER TOGETHER with the rest of the UK.

And I think our First Minister Mr Salmond needs to be PUTIN his place. Give that man a ticket Moscow.
PS: Whilst Gail agrees with my sentiments, she is worried that I am trivialising the issue. But do my friends really want to read more about sterling currency union, EU membership, bank debt and rapidly (and inexorably) declining North Sea oil revenues….?

  2. I don't knows, Bertie... all da ex-pat Scots we's ever met ovfur here is all fur da independence... fishes or not...don't know whut will happen over there. We just remember da Proclaimers song... Cap in Hand. Evfur heard it? But den, we's Americans and we gots our independence by fightin' fur it a long time ago... and some of Momma's ancestors got theirs from Mexico before Texas wuz a country fur almost a decade 'fore it became a state. So maybe's we's got a predisposition fur being all independent...

Oh Bertie. Perhaps I could be considered a school salmon, having returned to the place of my birth in anticipation of new life? Certainly I am wary of attack fishes (given the place I left had one of those and her actions resulted in the worst choice OZ has made in a while and now they have a budgie smuggler at the top of the tree). The trouble with darlings is one can fall out of love with them.

...and don't get me started on media reporting. Talk about fishing for tuna and catching dolphins...

One thing is fur sures, things are gonna get heated in every direction and there's gonna be a lot of cooked fish in the process.

Sigh. I just hope that cartoon doesn't come true, though of course there is every chance we'll see a caber or two being tossed.... Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  10. Simple rule - if it ain't broke - don't fix it. Mom's Grand Dad was Scottish - from Lochness and she still has family there and they seem to like things jut the way they are.

  13. I hope the best for Scotland and for all of us. We had a politician named Bonté (goodness) once but it was more a case of "oh my goodness". The only one who delivered what his name promised was an architect named O. Moron :o) Have a good thursday!

  19. Howdy Bertie, we think Politicians promise the earth when they want you to like them, but as soon as they get in, it's woops, we've changed our mind and we're going to do whatever we want. Sigh. Have a good weekend mate. Has Gail had any luck with a backpack for ya to go riding with her?? No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
