Small talk in the park
Hi, that's a nice human you have, how old is she? It is a she isn't it?
Yes it's a she. Hard to tell sometimes I know with these dog walking clothes they wear. As for age, she's in her mid fifties, not quite as fresh-faced as she used to be, but I love her all the same. How old's your one?
She's says she'd be nine if she were a dog, so I guess that's about the same age.
Well I have to say she looks in pretty good nick. Do you mind me asking where she goes to be groomed? Really, it's embarrassing being seen out with my human, she is so resistant to the idea of getting spruced up etc.
I guess they have to be trained when young, or else it's a hopeless case. Can't teach an old human new tricks, eh? Tell me, do you often let yours off the lead?
Oh absolutely. I keep an eye on her, of course, but she's pretty reliable on the whole, except if there's an ice-cream van nearby.
And is she well socialised with other humans?
Gosh, that's a hard one. She's OK with small groups, but put her in a big crowd and she gets a bit anxious.
You know I've noticed mine is fine so long as the other humans aren't too, well how shall I put it, loud and overbearing.
Do you find that yours needs a lot of exercise? Mine certainly does. Far more than all the human books suggest is necessary for a typical middle aged Anglo-Saxon female.
Oh no, mine's just the opposite. I have to drag her out of bed every morning. She's only really happy when lying besides me on the couch watching the telly and munching chocolate.
Well now, I think it's time to be off. Work to do - digging the garden and hoovering the floor, you know how it is...
Nice to meet you. Cheerio then.
See you again soon I expect. Cheers!
Dog-walking clothes...don't get us started! Do they TRY to look as badly as possible? And they complain about us getting muddy. SHEESH,

Bwahaahaa! SHE says that when walking us, no one even looks at HER, so SHE can wear what SHE wants. Looks like you found a nice little conversationalist there, Bertie.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
And you should be glad you have a human who needs lots of exercise.
Oh!! clothes, mine needs the fashion police called on her!! Me and Addi thinks it get embarrassing sometimes!!

Brilliant! You've already made our day!
ReplyDeleteBTW, you may wish to take a look at today's post. Why? Well... let's just say it's... Time to Burrow!!!
Ours is a sight...in fact what she wears is criminal...she should be arrested by the fashion police Bertie. Have a tremendous Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Howdy Bertie, and that's why we walk our peeps on isolated tracks. Mum's even broken out the shorts with the warmer weather, oh blimey. Thanks for the laughs mate. Have a good weekend. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDelete,
what a fabulous post, it was so funny we know just how you feel about the clothes though our mom loves to dress up she walks in the evening often in her gasp pajama pants so embarassing
ReplyDeleteurban hounds
What an awesome way to start our morning...you made us smile! We loved your conversation Bertie :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm...well I think our human looks OK most of the time. Teka says she needs to wear more pink! We are glad others talk about their humans this way. We thought we were being unfair when ours tries to short us on walks. She is a good cook, so that makes up for a lot.

BERTIE BERTIE BERTIE...NOT ONLY ARE YOU HANDSOME, YOU ARE ALSO A GREAT CONVERSATIONALIST!! All the qualities girls like no wonder you are a chick magnet. Gail is lucky to have you for her as her PR man.
ReplyDeletehugs madi your BFFF
Now you have me wondering what Freedom, Casper and Nikki talk about.
ReplyDeleteYou make us laugh! It is great to make new friends at the park. Such a friendly pup you are, such good things you say!
ReplyDeleteBertie that is a Super visit and Discussion time you had with your new furend. Don't you wonder what the Peeps talk about and think? THAT would be really Funny to read about.
ReplyDeleteYou surely did cover some VERY IMPAWtant issues. Quite Interesting.
I don't understand the dog-walking clothes either. Momma has a whole drawer of shirts she says she won't wear anywhere but dog-walking. Shouldn't she get a little dressed up to spend time with her best guy??
ReplyDeleteWhat a great conversation you had on your walk. Your Gail is still a Spring Chicken! Sounds like she prefers comfort over style on her walks or jogs as the case may be. Our mom is the same way.

Haha great discussion you had with your new friend, Bertie! My Sookie would say that I don't move around enough and that I need to get off my lazy butt and start exercising already!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great conversation. We are lucky that our Lady needs lots of exercise, and she does clean up well, just not for our first walk of the day. Lee and Phod
ReplyDeleteBertie,
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how similar good dog owners are? Gail is certainly a lot better behaved than mine though, we haven't yet progressed to letting him off the lead and I might book an appointment to get him groomed. I wonder if Gail and the other walker were having a vaguely similar chat...
Pippa
HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY its us... Well really me because Archie was reading ahead and got to the picture of you on the A frame and well really he is uncontrollable... rolling on the floor snorting and snortling, hiccupping, choking and coughing and laughing all at the same time THEN he RAN outside to see if he could perhaps perform the same trick What is a little puzzling to me however is that we don't have an A frame but that shouldn't really stop him I guess.. We are all fine.. We are preparing for the snow.... I have been baking and Archie... well who knows what he is doing anymore. He is just OBSESSED with that tuba.... You are looking good old boy and really you are one of our finest pupils.... WE are very proud of you Love A+A
