.... Especially one bearing an apple core.
Yes finally we are allowed to meet up for walk and picnics with our friends again. Hooray! Here I am on Friday just past, enjoying warm sunshine in Durris Forest with our lovely neighbours Neil and Yvonne.
Since Gail was far too busy nattering with her dear pals, she neglected to take any more photos of this most agreeable six mile walk around the edges of an irregular patchwork of ancient woodland and conifer plantations. Well anyway, the phone camera would have failed to capture the calm green tranquility of the views across the Lower Deeside hills, the slight buzz of excitement felt at the sight of remnant patches of snow on the distant Cairngorm plateau, the heady coconut smell of gorse mingled with the sweet pine scents nearby, the fresh colours of wildflower abundant meadows, and the lively birdsong soundtrack still relatively undisturbed by road and air traffic...
Life feels better!
Sounds absolutely wonderful. And friends with food....bliss! We can see you are enjoying your new freedom.

ReplyDeleteBertie lad, with such narration, images are not required! Sounds idyllic.
Here by the Hutch, however, it has been en-masse power tool usage in gardens, hoons on bikes and nose to tail traffic, kids and neighbours mingling in the street (six feet, what six feet?), and a mingling of four households in this back yard, for picnic and arrows; Yup, toddlers and archers. There's a mix for you... hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Life is good♥
ReplyDeleteoH my WFT what a joyous day you, Gail, Yvonne and Neil had. For sure the camera would have have been able to describe the day as well as you did.
ReplyDeleteYay for life beginning to be normal.
We had a very nice outing yesterday too. I will post about it on Thankful Thursday.
Many hugs and guess what 2 1/2 days til we get our furs stripped.

What a lovely time you had Bertie. Friends who share their food are always welcome here, too.
ReplyDeleteThis morning, for the first time since March, we went down to the seafront to meet up with my human's friends. They had coffee and chat and biscuits, and do you know - they didn't give me a single crumb! Even though I did my very best to look like a really starving Labrador after lockdown! My human actually had the temerity to remind them that I was never fed at the table! How about that!
Love,
from a very disgruntled Inca xx
Inca, this is a disgrace. Next time, insist on the humans eating where there are no tables. Then surely they'd share? (At least those are the rules round here!)
DeleteSo glad you are able to spend time together in safe ways.
ReplyDeleteOh Bertie I wish I were with you for here we are now under curfew with riots in a lot of our cities. We are going down the rabbit hole fast.

It sounds like you had a lovely time hiking with your friends. Even without pictures your words paint a beautiful one for the imagination.
ReplyDeleteHo wonderful to hang out and hike with your friends! And while pictures would have been nice your description of the walk put all sorts of visions in our heads.

So happy you could get out for a stroll BErtie...and with your descriptions, we didn't even need any more pictures!!

Wait, an apple CORE?? I love apples, but Momma won't give me the core because she says it's bad for me. Is she lying to me to keep the core to herself?!?!
ReplyDeleteYour Momma is not lying as there is a lot of stuff on the internet about this (not all of it reliable!) It's true that apple pips contain minute amounts of cyanide, but in reality almost certainly not enough to harm the dog who occasionally enjoys a single core.
