A most peculiar sight ...

NB Warning: best not read over breakfast.

We were taking a shortcut through a back alley in our neighbourhood.

First we saw this sign.

And then we saw several of these.

Weird, huh?

  1. What's REALLY weird is we saw the same sign in a little path on a housing estate in our village near Burton-on-Trent and it looked like EXACTLY the same handwriting!

(But, the, hmm... evidence didn't have flags in it though)

Terrible terrible habit - not picking up.. We hate it, Ggrrrr!!!

    Love and licks, Winnie

  2. OMD(gross) and those are American flags. We are not at war are we??? Bertie please say it isn't so. Those are some pretty big poos, are there horseys or giant dogs or mammoth cats living in that area. Oh I do hope this doesn't escalate into an international fracas. The headlines would be horrid. Please whoever is pooing stop and quit eating American flags.

Please keep me informed Bertie, I am concerned and I want us to stay pals

  4. Oh I say! Do you think someone is suggesting an American dog is responsible? I do hope this doesn't turn into an international faeces errr fracas...! Deccy x

  5. Bertie, it is a most confounding and frustrating thing indeed. Now I will confess that sometimes when I do my business in a wooded area that momma does not pick it up, but of course it is dwarfed next to the horse poop that is there.

No excuse for this, seriously. We have people who bag the poo and then leave the bag on the sidewalk. WTF?

As for the person marking that alley with signs and flags. It likely won't change anybody's behavior but it does give responsible humans a bit of a chuckle.

  6. Don't quite understand the flags unless it was all they had! We wish people would clean up after dogs as well.

  7. Are they the sorts of flags you find on plates of cocktail sausages ? Perhaps you could enter into the spirit of things and leave out some black bags with a sign sying '' Please use these " . A whole new form of intra-urban communication could develop. There again ...

  8. Oh my! I hate when people do that. We live in the city and people do it here too. I always feel like they think it is our dogs since we have somany and we are innocent

  10. I can see why they are cross about it- I have the odd little rant myself, but have never been tempted to stick flags in it though! :S

  15. I pray this does not cause a POOP war. I can assure you that is NOT my (Frankie Furter) or Ernie's Poop.
I really don't want to have Poop Shooters EXPLODING all over the world.
Perhaps a nice Jolly Rodger would have been more appropriate in so many ways.
I say this to whoever left it.. BEHIND...
Pick up the Poops.. Keep the Peace

  16. Hey Bertie!
Wow, I have to say that this gave me a big chuckle! Not picking up is a dirty, rotten thing fur sure. The flags are an interesting touch, but if it's an American pooch, it's a big one! BOL. Yuck.

  18. How strange! Why on earth would somebody stick flags in something that another person is too bone idle to clear up in the first place?

  19. Where can I get some flags from? Any nationality will do. It's getting worse over this side of Aberdeen too

  20. It's a well known fact that we American dogs always poop out a little flag. You know, we're trying to boost the economy through manufacturing... Funny no one has blogged about this before. Probably just assumed everyone else in the world knew. Have a good week!!

  22. Had I known, I wouldn't have whoopsed up those sticky page markers, but swallowed them for a different exit and then... oh, but I forgot, our mom always picks up our stuff so no need for markers.

We are confoosed, however, about the particular flag chosen to adorn these fine specimens. We've seen unfriends burn our flag -- is this a more sustainable approach to political statements?

(At first mom was just going to say "no comment" -- but she seems to have gotten carried away.

    Wirey woofs, wirey pal!!!

  23. Well Bertie, we don't quite understand the flag!
We thought that poo must belong to a pretty large dog........!
Now we ourselves believe that every dog has a duty to train their human.
It is simple enough, they must carry bags and pick up!
We are constantly amazed at how many badly trained humans there are - it really is enough to give us dogs a bad name.
We know we can rely on you to set a good example as it does put some humans off us dogs ............. !
    Much love

ps our own human has an issue with us sniffing such bundles as it appears our ears get covered in it......!

  26. OMD! An American flag in the pooh?! Is there an American dog going around defecating in the alley or is it a more sinister statement?? We're offended, but are too far away to bite someones leg!! BOL.

  27. BTW, our folks not only pick our poo up when we do it, but also pick up that of inconsiderate hoomans who don't pick up after their pooches. It obviously is an international problem.

  28. We are also at a loss. We trust the complainer is not one of us, desecrating our flag by such an inappropriate use - and in someone else's country. We hope the complainer is not a Scot, accusing an American doggie/person in such an insulting way. We're leaping to the conclusion that the sign poster and the flag desecrator are one and the same. Where's one of those CCTV cameras that are all over the UK when you need one?

Please do keep us posted on the status of this international incident. Guess we'd better get some powder so we can keep it dry.

And by the size of it, Bertie, you are clearly not responsible, in case someone starts hurling accusations at you just because you traverse the alley on occassion.
