Short but sweet

So several passengers could have slipped unnoticed through the ticket barrier at Aberdeen station while two of the staff kept me entertained and another disappeared for a few minutes and came back bearing shortbread..

It is a long train journey to Nottingham. For the first part of the ride, the Edinburgh and Newcastle bound Hen Parties kept me entertained...

But after light refreshments kindly provided by Virgin trains at Newcastle (although where were the complimentary dog biscuits Mr Branson?)...

...I settled down for a wee snooze. Which Gail assures me is the best way to travel through Doncaster.

Of course I was impatient to visit Human Granny...

And we enjoyed a mutually satisfying half hour together comparing notes on poorly paws.

Then Gail spent some time - actually quite a long time - instructing HGY in use of the laughably named 'EasyCall' device linking her hearing aid to her mobile phone...

And all too soon it was time to depart.

We head home to Aberdeen tomorrow. Gosh I hope it is not too long before I visit Nottingham again.

  1. Have you notified everyone that you're travelling through, so there will be shortbread ready? HGY is lucky that Gail can EVEN hook a hearing aid to a phone. It would be beyond HER!

    Enjoy your little holiday.

  6. Crikey Bertie ..... sounds like you had a nice visit with HGY and it was good you could compare foot troubles. It's always hard when you have to leave them, aye? Me and Mum know all about that. We hated leaving our Nan when we had to go back home. HGY is looking good! Is she keeping well.

  7. What a lovely photo of HGY. She certainly looks well. Looks like a lovely trip on the train. You just will have to get a season ticket so you can pop down there more often. You being the boffin that you are could manage it on your own I am sure.

  18. Those devices for seniors require a tec youngster to install. Lee went through all of them with her Dad ~ what a pain in the backside! Wish I could take the Amtrak here in the states. You are so lucky.
