Contemplating the EU referendum result

It's a grey, dismal day, even by Aberdeen standards.
We in this house are feeling shellshocked.

  1. it can be a new beginning too... and if we had a popular vote about to stay or to go it would look like yours...

  4. I was shocked by the result. Read all the articles on BBC and then came directly here, to see what Bertie thought. I am still in shock, and I currently reside in southeast USA.

  5. Bertie, we are shocked, too. But hope that you are feeling much better otherwise.

  6. A sad and shocking outcome. I've just
been reading the blogs of some in the
UK who seem not to have given any thought to their actions. They voted
Leave on an impulse and some then felt
    regret afterwards. Too late now.

  21. Bertie, I think we feel how are parents must have felt in September 1939, when WWII broke out. Kind of a disbelief and numbness. We're expats, so our future is even more uncertain than yours. If we have to come back to the UK, the tall man who feeds us, wants to make for a Scottish Isle somewhere (his forebears were/are all Scots) and sit out your Independence referendum and re-join Europe !
    How about that?

    1. You have no idea how many of my formerly strongly pro-unionist friends has said this week that they'd now vote yes to Scottish independence. But my fear is that the whole EU project has been fatally undermined so the 'Europe' that Scotland re-joined (even if such a thing were possible) would be very different from the one that the UK has so harmfully voted to leave.
      All the best, Gail.

  22. Bertie, my mom is scared. She thinks if the Brits can vote for this then the Americans might even elect (him.) She says she's moving to Canada. I know she won't because she doesn't like to be cold but still. A few years ago our state elected The Terminator. UGH,
