Square dog?

Health updates:

Bertie: the vet poked me in various places and diagnosed kennel cough. He prescribed "just wait a few days and he'll probably feel better" therapy. Thirty pounds well spent??? I did eat a bit of food yesterday (marmite smeared kibble and some scraps of chicken) but I'm still coughing and lacking in bounce.

Gail: feeling just hunky dory after my operation - three cheers for the 'free at the point of use' NHS and for keyhole surgery.

Thank you so much, dear readers, for all your good wishes.

  2. Hi Bertie,

It is good to hear that Gail is better, and you will be soon.

Perhaps you could suggest to Gail that she try a a little bit of chicken soup over your kibble (to soften it) and soothe your throat and soul. Mushy food (even tins of the smelly canned stuff) were easier for me to eat when I had kennel cough.

  5. Glad you're better, Bertie (and Gail). Can't believe it's kennel cough when you'd been vaccinated.....it's a worry.

  7. Good news all around, it seems! . Kennel cough sounds really horrible. Max got it once and it sounded like we'd gained some heavy, unoiled machinery in our home.
It can take a while to go away, but yes, it really does sound horrible.
    Hugs to you both.

  9. Hi Bertie, thank you for dropping by - we are pleased that the vet was not worried but not happy that you still feel poorly!
Hopefully you will soon pick up and be your usual bouncing self. We have met a WFT a few times at Mugdock recently - honestly we are worn out just watching him!
Your Auntie Bailey has even given him a good growling, but still he wont stand still.
We did not know that Gail had surgery - she is very brave.
We do have more time not blogging, although we do try, from time to time, to drop by and see how everyone is.
We would love to be back blogging but the human felt it was taking up so much time - we will do the odd 'drop in' post.
We look forward to hearing that you are all better soon - you do look under par in that picture - it is just not normal for you to be still.
    Take care
    love

  10. Oh poor Bertie. I'm sure you're getting lots of TLC at home though and am sure that the bounce will be back before you know it.

  13. Someone suggested chicken soup poured on your kibble, Bertie. What is even better is ice cream, it just slides down very nicely, its sweet and gentle on the throat. Put in an order for some Bertie and you will be back on your feet in no time.

    Cheers,
    Stella

  19. We're glad to read Gail is better and mama really envies you the NHS. We're sorry to read you are under the weather; is kennel cough caused by a virus or a bacteria? Here, you'd have gotten auntie-biotics for sure on the theory they might help and couldn't hurt - a scientifically dubious proposition, but one to which we Americans cleave. Sure hope you feel better soon. How about some rice and a bit of yougurt and some hard boiled eggs?

  20. Hi Bertie Jan here
Gald you are on the mend, I'm surprised you were that bad even having been innoclated. The breeder said to get Tess done, as it is very rife at the moment which I have, will be taking George for his soon, but will be keeping a close eye on both of them. Thanks for blogging about it
