The truth can be so hurtful...

Overheard. Gail. On the phone yesterday.

"Hello. Is that Gordon?  Hi. About the agility class.  You said after you saw Bertie last week that I could bring him along this Saturday morning. Is that still OK?"

"Yes we'll be meeting at midday.  Can you make it then?"

"Yes I can make it at 12 noon, no problem. Will there be other dogs?"

"There's the labrador I told you about. And I've another couple coming too with their one year old collie".

"A one year old, just like Bertie then?"

"No, not like Bertie. This one knows what he's doing".

(Actually what he said was "This een kens fit he's deen" but I don't expect my readers to comprehend the Doric dialect...)

  1. Bertie - 'Knows what he's doing', indeed. Don't you go worrying about those Collies with their fancy airs and graces. I'm betting that you'll stun everyone with your very own take on agility.

  2. That Collie may "know what it's doing", but we bet it's not near as agile as a terrier. You show him how it's done!!

As far as little Hamish/Sir Bentley goes - all is well. Their peeps are not very computer savvy so they have a hard time sending us a picture. When they do, we'll be posting it so you can see him.

  5. "Sticks and stones may break your bones but words should never hurt you." By now your agility class should be over and we so hope that you gave a good example of true grace, beauty and competence. We're sure you did. We have NO DOUBT! And we're guessing you taught a good lesson in diplomacy. And word choice.

    Hrmphhh.

  6. Oh Bertie. Don't worry about some ol' collie and their pointy nose-head! It's probably dumb as a box of rocks! (That's American. Mean's they're NOT a terrier :-) Hope you have fun. That's what it's all about anyway!

    A. They don't think you know what you're doin'...

    And

    B. You can understand that dialect....

Honestly, Bertie, I'm surest that you've got the whole agility thing down by now...just run, jump and weave...pretty much just a straight line for a terrier...

    We have faith, dear Boy...

    Kisses,

    Lacie

  14. Bertie my boy. No doubt you completed your agilities with true terrier style instead of colliewobbling about all over the place.

Now Bertie a little trick for you that I used to employ for my agility class. By now you know it takes foreeeeeever for your turn to do the course? Then in a flash it's over? Well. When it finally came to my turn I used to run the agility course with M Square. When I was over the last obstacle I used to turn about tail, double quick and run the course in reverse..... on my OWN ..HHAAAAAAAAA!!! Yeah I did!! Smart eh? Lots of extra agilities and nice coooing remarks from all the leggeds for me on my smarts.

I know what a chip off my block you are so I suggest you give it a try my boy.

Wiry love and encouragment. Eric xxxx

Peee S. Bet you are the only doggie who loves the tunnel eh?

  18. Bertie,

Just remember, when it comes to terriers, especially of the Scottish persuasion, they are not so much "commands" as "suggestions." And insist on Gail filling her pockets with bacon for your reward before you set a paw into the tunnel.
