A fragrant visitor (etiquette)

Gosh it's been a busy few days.

We had a visitor, Helen, up from London, and it fell to me (Gail having some work to do) to ensure she was made especially welcome in our home.

And you know what? I've discovered that when thick woolly socks cover feet softened with blueberry moisturiser, you have a particularly appealing combination. I could have chewed on Helen's feet all day. Indeed that's what I tried to do. It's the proper way to greet guests, no?

Oh and we did go out for some nice walks too. Here's Helen and I enjoying the spectacular view along the coast south of Aberdeen. Long time readers of my esteemed predecessor's blog may recognise Dunottar Castle in the background.

And if you are thinking that Helen is focussing on whether or not I attack her boots, rather than on the castle, then you are wrong. That is just an optical illusion.

Later we went to inspect the azalea garden in Hazlehead park. I was secretly pleased to find the flowers mostly weren't in bloom just yet - surely that guarantees another trip in a couple of weeks?
Oh but they did already smell nice, those azaleas.

Almost as fragrant as a certain person's feet....

  2. Bella always licks Alpha's legs and socks when she puts on lotion. And it doesn't have much of a smell.

That looks like a great place for exploring. Glad you'll have to make a return visit to see the rest of the azaleas.

  4. Good morning little nephew Bertie, we loved seeing you and your shadow this morning.
You are growing up so fast. We liked the sound of Helen's feet very much!
It is certainly etiquette to chew a visitor's feet if they smell and taste good.
Why else would Helen be smelling of blueberries!
You walk looked delightful - we just love coastal walks and those azaleas were lovely.
Yes I think you will have to go back there very soon and check that the flowers have all come out!
    love and kisses
    Your Aunties xxxx

  6. Bertie, we can't get over how you've grown!! More adorable (and chewy?) every day.

Our mom learned that lotion on legs when we're around inspires serious licking attempts -- so that bit of human grooming now takes place in private. Hmmmph.

    Wirey love,

    Jake and Just Harry

  10. Hey Bertie, I wait outside my dads bathroom door cause I know when he gets out of that shower thing he will put on some lotion stuff and I just can't resist a fast lick of his knee!!! It is sooo good! So I completely understand about the wool socks and such. Hugs and wags, Mistaya

  11. Dunnotar and scented woolly feet - and all in one day . What a bon viveurs lifestyle. Maybe next week the family will take you down to Lunan Bay for a picnic and a long, long walk . Remember to cut back round Black Castle to bark at the herons.

  13. Ahhh Bertie, how proud you make me. Yet another wagging discovery of yours. Blueberry feet and wool must be sniffy perfect. Now you need to learn that trick of taking leggeds socks off. It's a real party piece and easy peasy. I try it as often as I can but alas have never unmasked bluberry feet. Perhaps helen could pop over to visit me. She can't be far.

Then the lovely Azaleas with you centre stage and of course you completely over shadow the castle. All in all as pretty as a picture.
    Pretty handsome of course.

Tell Gail I wagged over the tale of Hamish and the sandwich. Such a fine pal. A chap after my own stomach. Which reminds me. Going to tea with Granny any time soon Bertie? HAAAAAAAhaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

    Wiry love your Uncle Eric.

I do hope you are able to replicate my latest little adventure sometime soon.

  15. Thank you for a very good explanation. Next time I attack Moma's feet, I'll explain it is good etiquette and awfully nice smelling moisturizer. (Yeah, right!)
